Our Story | More Than A Music Festival | This is Tomorrow

This Is Tomorrow is the North East’s largest and best music festival. The event takes place annually on the second May Bank Holiday. Its current home is Exhibition Park, Newcastle.

This Is Tomorrow’s commitment to bringing live music to the North East on an unprecedented scale matches the ambition of its inspiration Richard Hamilton. Hamilton, a pioneering artist described as the ‘Father of Pop Art’ has strong links to Newcastle as his influential exhibition ‘Man, Machine and Motion’ was displayed at the city’s Hatton Gallery in 1955.

In the same progressive spirit, This Is Tomorrow captures countless imaginations with its vision to bring the best musical talents to Newcastle for three days of revelry each Spring Bank Holiday.

The inaugural edition of the festival took place in 2018 and it was a powerful statement of intent. The festival took place by the River Tyne at Spiller’s Wharf, Newcastle. Catfish and The Bottlemen and Thirty Seconds To Mars set the bar incredibly high as the first ever This Is Tomorrow Headliners. Sam Fender, Don Broco, Everything Everything and Marmozets are just a few of the outstanding acts that also performed across the weekend.

2019 saw This Is Tomorrow climb to ambitious new heights. With an extra day added to the festival and a brand new home at Exhibition Park, Newcastle the scene was set for an incredible event. Foals, Noel Gallagher and Stereophonics were three mighty headliners who packed out the park. However, there was far more to shout about with this lineup. Just a small selection of highlights included touring acts such as You Me At Six, The Vaccines, Lewis Capaldi and Johnny Marr. The reviews were raving with The Newcastle Chronicle saying: “…let’s have more of the same, please, and soon!”

2021 will be yet another special year pushing boundaries and daring to be different. This is different. This is new. This Is Tomorrow.
